Assignment Symbiosis

Because it’s no product of design-lessness that our exhalation is the breath of the Earth, and its not merely a fact that through every storm, the sun remains shining.

And the tiny sphere spins, blending blues, whites and greens; beautiful. Blessed.

It spins, smudging filth, war and sin; pitiful. Cursed.

The star it orbits shines. Millions of times its size.

It shines, warming them, feeding them, keeping them alive.

It shines, drilling them, burning them, killing them.

Them, such feeble creatures upon that sphere.

Such mighty creatures upon that sphere.

Earth.

“Earth”

Said the angel as it beheld the home of his masters most prized creation. “Earth” he said again letting the name flow slowly from his mind and expand to fill the universe.

Why? So small, yet considered the greatest.

How could He even see them? hear them?

Love them?

No doubt he does, but how does he do it?

Such patience, such compassion, such… creativeness!

Jupiter, the angel, always kept his distance, but today it wouldn’t be so. He approached slowly, cautiously. He extended his vision to focus for the first time on the creatures.

Humans.

The sight was alien to him; incredible. Terrible.

Incredible, they were perfect! Truly miniature works of art.

Moving

Thinking

Smiling

Breathing

Their planet, simple to what he’s always known, but still beautiful.

Terrible, they were mistakes, truly brainless machines

Killing

Lying

Crying

Dying

Their planet, rotting.

The movement was too quick to observe clearly, but still distinguishable.  It was fast, yet appeared like a movie in slow motion.

A new born caught his eye.

He followed it with his gaze, watched it grow.

Learning

Running

Falling

The boy was blowing on wax sticks of fire for the eighth time when Jupiter went on his way again.

He was ten minutes late.

“What took you so long?” asked Ananke, the angle who would take the next shift. Jupiter chuckled but did not provide an answer.

“Ah Jupiter, always up to something” Laughed Ananke. Jupiter smiled a little wider and then left.

He had a break now; a break from his job, roaming the solar system, keeping the planets and stars in check. He loved it. He decided that during that time he would go discuss his observations with God. His master.

Jupiter soared through space, passing stars and brilliantly painted planets. The cosmos was, is, a wonderful place. Colors, millions of them gorgeously and thoughtfully arranged. Patterns and sounds hum softly; the voices of the angles.

Immense

Unfathomable

Even to him

Clouds of glittering ice and crystals swirl around as the hand of God twirls his paintbrush. He stared in awe of the new masterpiece. God’s artwork is always original, his specialty is everything. From the microorganisms of Earth to the stars of space. He creates thousands a day each with great detail and design. Not one similar to another.

And still; his mind is everywhere

Listening

Answering

Understanding

His heart is aware in full of everyone

Mourning

Laughing

Burning

Calming

His smile is all

His eyes see all

His hands build all

His words say all

His angles work for him

Yet He, God

Works

Lives

Through the privileged.

Man

And

Woman.
