The Trade
And I see his eyes darken as the years go by
I see his soul tighten and begin to cry
His mind is falling from innocence’s grip
His character bleeding with every slip
He’s gone from believing into knowing
Reality seething as he’s growing
Not just seeing but percieving
Truly listening not just hearing
He sees things as they are
Things are not what they seem by far
He knows this is not how it should be
But in his brain, hes unlocked the key
This is the exchange we will or have made
As we move forward from frist to second grade
And I would have never paid
to know this world hides in a facade
I would have never paid
If i knew THIS was the trade

And what do we get for our innocence? Reality. My heart breaks every time my little brother learns about this harsh world. The pain, the suffering, the evil of man, thoes are all the things we learn as we grow. All because of one man.
Adam was the trade. through him we die, only to recieve death.
But because of one man we also are able to learn truth. We are able to know real love, real humbleness, real courage, real LIFE!
Jesus was the trade. For him we must die, but recieve HIS life.

And I see his eyes ignite as the years go by
his soul blooming and begining to fly
His mind deepening, and strengthening its grip
His character building with clay and slip
Hes gone from believing into knowing
The truth being proven as hes growing
Not just seeing but percieving
Truly listening not just hearing
His mind astute and bright as a star
His heart exceeds all by far
In his brain hes unlocked the key
To winning and being all he can be
This is the exchange we will or have made
As we move forward from frist to second grade
And I’m gald I paid
because now I know I can be of aid
I’m glad I paid
Because I am who I am because of THIS trade
